WELCOME

We are a secular homeschool community that aims to connect and become a village. Homeschooling alone is hard. Our center is about freedom and respect. There is no set structure or commitment. Give and take what you need.  We homeschool because we want to be able to learn at individualized paces and participate at different levels. Our core "staff" try to bring together affordable guided activities led by professionals. Humans/children learn through play. Our vibrant and inclusive educational community believes academic excellence, child freedom, and personal growth go hand in hand. Our experienced and dedicated guides strive to find their own interests and strengths and use them to assist children find theirs. Our communitysocial programs provide opportunities for all kids in the community to join us and explore their interests and develop their talents. We are committed to creating an adventurous environment that is not afraid to take risks and trust children with freedom of choice.

Current events

We are not a drop-off enrichment activities place. However, Depending on your kids, their age, and their easiness of disposition. It can be considered, but……it’s as a friend, not as a teacher. :).

Monday is LARP, register and join FB page

Friday is a Zoom parent coffee and Socratic discussion meet-up. We highly encourage members of the community to attend. We are HOPING to build a community. Not an enrichment activities center.  Come join, share and learn.

On Fridays, I am currently doing swim lessons at Lynwood Recreation Center. You have to pre-register.

The cost is 7$, but that is for the use of the recreation center. I’m not doing swim lessons through them. It’s child-led. The only cost is what the facility charges.

Our Mission

The Sonder Life Learners program aims to support the homeschooling community by providing a FREE/donation-based educational experience with professionals and making a community of highly motivated self-directed adults who can guide young minds in exploring their intrinsic interests.   Experiencing the difference between community and activity as we all develop our minds nourishes our bodies and promotes self-awareness and accountability.   The program is child-led at its center,  the adult guides encourage children to explore their interests and set self-made goals.

Testimonials

I've recently been looking into the concept of child-led learning and was so happy to come across Sonder Life.  We came to visit and felt so welcomed.  I love that they have parents supporting the program and such amazing class offerings.  My kids loved it.  They got into an argument with each other at the end, and Christel impressively jumped in to help them figure out a plan and talk through their feelings.  It is such a special community.
